Immediately following high school, she went to work at Bearings, Inc., in York. Later transferring to their Pittsburgh office to help support her husband through Dental School at the University of Pittsburgh. Nancy continued to work until the birth of their daughter. She wanted to raise her own child and was fortunate enough to be a homemaker for nearly fifty years. Nancy was a passionate and skilled golfer, a member of the Out Door Country Club for nearly fifty years, the ODCC Women’s 18 Hole League and a member of the ODCC Women’s York County Amateur Golf Association. Raised on old school values, Nancy always played her favorite sport by the book, except on her cherished “loosey-goosey Tuesdees” with a beloved friend. For several decades Nancy was an avid walker with her neighbor girlfriends and always looked forward to starting her day with them. She had also been a regular volunteer at the York Hospital Fete. As a voracious reader Nancy spent countless hours reading books, newspapers and magazines. She loved visiting with her family at their condominium in Ocean City, NJ and when they would say their goodbyes after each visit she would always say “thanks for all your good ‘cookerin’ Jeffrey”. For more than twenty years Nancy and Jod enjoyed spending three weeks in the Dominican Republic visiting with an array of international friends they had met over the years even visiting one couple at their home in Zurich, Switzerland. Nancy was a reluctant fisherwoman however she would indulge her husband, daughter and son-in-law in their fishing adventures. Nancy and Jod traveled to Alaska where they slept on a cozy fishing boat with a private chef. She caught several salmon, monster halibut and witnessed the majesty of humpback whales, grizzly bears and sea lions. For fifteen consecutive years she enjoyed accompanying her family on fishing trips to the Chesapeake Bay where for a few years she caught many a rockfish and would sometimes nap on the boat. In later years she would enjoy relaxing and reading by the waters of St. Jerome’s Creek.
