Norma Bernstein Obituary

Norma Bernstein, 95, of York, died Monday April 11, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Norma was born in Philadelphia on March 18, 1927. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, daughter and the center of her family’s universe. She was known for years as York’s top female bridge player, a diamond life master who was one of the founding members, and first woman members, of the White Rose Bridge Club. She was a lifelong member of Temple Beth Israel and the former president of the ladies auxiliary of the York JCC. She was also a dancer, a world traveler, a passionate Orioles fan, one of York’s greatest cheerleaders and a lover of the traditional jazz music popularized by her late brother Robert Erdos.

Norma was married to her loving husband, the late Harold Bernstein, for 37 years. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Kathryn Erdos. She is survived by four children: William Bernstein of Santa Rosa, Calif. (Cassandra), Cathy Crosky of Williamstown, Mass. (Robert), Lisa Stark of Newtown, Pa. (Jayson), and David Bernstein of York (Jill), as well as nine grandchildren (Mikaela Palmerton, Joseph Bernstein, Benjamin Crosky, Sarah Crosky, Steven Stark, Jessica Stark, Hali Stark, Henry Bernstein and Ella Bernstein) and three great-grandchildren (Sawyer Palmerton, Tacoma Palmerton and Hellen Bernstein), along with her beloved sister-in-law, Erda Erdos of York.
