Patricia C. Bankenstein, age 69, of North Codorus Township, Seven Valleys, died at 11:40 PM Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at her residence. She was the wife of Bruce C. Bankenstein.
Born February 21, 1952 in Buffalo, New York, a daughter to the late Kenneth F. and Jean (Bradley) Carroll, she graduated from York Suburban High School, and attended Sweet Briar College in Virginia. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Delaware, and had worked as a Chemist for the former J.E. Baker Company as well as Neville Chemical Company in Pittsburgh. She was a member of Saint John Episcopal Church, and was an avid reader and gardener. Patricia served on the boards of directors of Access York, Inc., and the Southern Community Services of Penn-Mar Organization, Inc. She had also been a volunteer for the Village Library in Jacobus, and was a long time leader of its book group.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bankenstein is survived by a daughter, Jennifer L. Heuer, of Brooklyn, New York; a son, Neal C. Bankenstein, and his wife Meredith, of Port Tobacco, Maryland; three grandchildren, Calder, Finley, and Isla; a brother, Kenneth F. Carroll, Jr., of Laona, Wisconsin; and two sisters, Kathryn Mathewson, of Pittsboro, North Carolina, and Ann Dailey, of Pottstown. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Sheila Cooprider.
Visitation is scheduled for 4-6:00 PM Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York. A gathering to Celebrate Pat’s Life is scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, September 17, 2021, with her sister, The Rev’d. Kathryn Mathewson, officiating. A reception with the family will immediately follow. Burial will be private.
