Philip W. Smith, age 88, of West Manchester Township, Dover, died at 9:20 AM Monday, March 31, 2025, at Providence Place in Dover. He was the husband of Kathryn H. (McNair) Smith.

Born May 21, 1936, in York, a son of the late George J. Smith and the late Mildred (Neiman) Smith Black, he retired from the York Daily Record after more than 40 years of employment.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, Mr. Smith is survived by two daughters, Tina M. Taylor, and her husband David, of York, and Susan C. Diehl, and her husband Edward, of York; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Cunningham, and her husband Michael, of York, and Roslyn Lentz, and her husband Jeffrey, of York; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Smith.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 AM Friday, April 4, 2025, at Mount Rose Cemetery, with Chaplain Shaun Hoffmaster officiating. Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes and Cremation, 849 Eat Market Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.
