Obituary

Phyllis D. Koons, age 84, of Springettsbury Township, York, died at 12:55 PM Saturday November 5, 2022 at Rest Haven- York. She was the wife of the late William R. “Bill” Koons.

Born September 2, 1938, in Lower Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Harold W. and Vera J. (Deckman) Leiphart.  A 1956 graduate of William Penn High School, she had worked at Mailman’s Department Store for 25 years and after its closure, for BonTon Department Store.  She was as a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Koons is survived a daughter, Martha Koons-Soth, and her husband Frederick, of York; four grandchildren, Michael, Thomas, Elizabeth, and Amber; five great grandchildren, Lovies, Alan, Blake, Alyson, and Zander; and a sister, Carol Bohnlein, of York. She was also preceded in death by two sons, W. Scott Koons and Paul A. Koons; and a daughter, Melissa A. Koons.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 397 Tyler Run Road, York, with her Pastor, The Rev. Dale Parker, officiating. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 AM. Private burial will be at Mount Rose Cemetery. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church Organ Fund, 397 Tyler Run Road, York, PA 17403.
