Phyllis I. Schiding, age 95, of York Township, York, died at 9:35 AM Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at York South.
Born August 8, 1928, in York, she was a daughter of the late Horace H. and Maude L. (White) Ziegler. A graduate of William Penn High School, she worked as the Secretary of York Hospital Auxiliary for 28 years, and then as an employee of its Volunteer Service Department for 10 Years. As a result of her many years of service to York Hospital, she was made an Honorary Member of York Hospital Auxiliary Board. She was a member of Union Lutheran Church where she served on the Church Council, Fellowship Committee, Christian Education Committee, Evangelism Committee, and Social Ministry Committee, as well as a Sunday School teacher, and Choir member, since 1972.
Mrs. Schiding is survived by two sons, David S. Schiding, and his wife Karen, of York, and Michael A. Schiding, of York; two grandchildren, Spencer Schiding and Tracey Myers; and a great granddaughter, Dellarose Myers. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanne T. Schwartzer and Betty Stauffer; and three brothers, H. Kenneth Ziegler, Franklin H. Ziegler, and Frederick W. Ziegler.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Union Lutheran Church, 408 West Market Street, York, with her Pastor, The Rev. Joel Folkemer, officiating. Viewing will be from 10:00-11:00 AM. Private burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.
