Reuben B. Zeager, Jr. Obituary

Reuben B. Zeager, Jr., age 81, of Manchester Township, York, died at 9:30 AM Monday, January 12, 2026, at UPMC Memorial. He was the husband of Carol J. (Demmitt) Zeager.


Born March 17, 1944, in York, a son of the late Reuben B. Zeager, Sr. and the late Edna Mae (Warner) Zeager, he retired from the York City Police Department and later from the York County Sherriff’s Department. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police White Rose Lodge, Elks, the Republican Committee, and the Quarter Back Club. He graduated from York High where he played varsity basketball as a ninth grader, playing on several championship teams, and played varsity baseball. He was also a sports fanatic, his favorite teams were the Baltimore Orioles, Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Colts, Penn State and the York Revolution. 


In addition to his loving wife, of 59 years, Mr. Zeager is survived by a daughter, Stacey L. Houck, and her husband Gregory, of York; and a grandson, Devin G. Houck, as well as nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gus and Ronald Zeager.


Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, with The Rev. Bonnie Whittier officiating.
