Robert I. Barefoot, age 77, of Spring Garden Township, York, died at 12:38 PM Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at his residence. He was the husband of Constance M. (Kaufmann) Barefoot.

Born November 17, 1947, in Alum Bank, Bedford County, the son of the late Elwood and Helen C (Kehl) Barefoot, he was a graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School, and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  Serving in the Vietnam War, he was a recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.  He retired from Caterpillar, Inc., where he had worked in production.

In addition to his wife of 31 years, Mr. Barefoot is survived by a son, Douglas A. Barefoot, and his wife Kassie, of Bellefonte; a daughter, Sharon C. Hont, of York; three grandchildren, Samuel Hont, Kathryn Barefoot, and Wesley Barefoot; a sister, Oma Rae Clinton, of New Jersey; and two stepsisters, Doris Stiffler, of Duncansville, and Norma Jean Heming, of Bedford. He was also preceded in death by a stepsister, Aldine Feather; a stepbrother, Jay Claycomb; and a foster sister, Phyllis Jean Heidorn.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11:30 AM Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, with military honors. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.
