Robert I. Estill, age 81, of Naples, Florida and Dallastown, died Thursday, January 30, 2025. He was the husband of Judy Ann (Marsh) Estill.
Born May 8, 1943, in Bryn Mawr, the first son of the late Irving G. and Edith (Diehl) Estill, he was a 1961 graduate of Conestoga High School, a 1963 graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy Junior College, and a 1965 graduate of Susquehanna University, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He began his working career with Sears where he was part of the Eastern territorial staff, supervising the building trades for the new Sears stores. He then went on to Dentsply International, where he held the position of corporate accountant, charged with the consolidated statements for the North America affiliates. In 1971 he left Dentsply and created First Investors General with two partners. In 1972 he founded Fox Run Realty.
Bob earned his pilot’s license in 1974, transitioning through many aircraft. Having accumulated more than 5,000 hours of flight time, holding commercial, instrument, multi-engine, seaplane and glider pilot Ratings. He recently received recognition from the FAA for 50 years of exemplary aviation flight experience, distinguished professionalism, and steadfast commitment to aviation safety.
Other interests included cars, motorcycles, model trains, and boating. He started caddying at the age of eight at St. David’s Golf Club, in Wayne Pennsylvania, where his father was the Caddy Master. His interest in golf continued inspiring the acquisition of Cool Creek Country Club with partners in the early 70’s.
Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife Judy, and spending time in Naples and Key West, Florida as well as Stone Harbor, New Jersey.
He was a member of Grey Oaks Country Club, Country Club of York, the Train Collectors of America, Porsche Club of America, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Realtors Association of York and Adams County, Duke Flyers, Road Dogs, Renaissance, Antique Automobile Club of America, Victory Athletic Club, Super Pilots, 2020 Stock Club, and Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Judy, he is survived by his children, Samuel Andrew Estill, William Grey Estill, Patsy Ann Hamstra, and Michael David Estill, and Michael’s wife Nikki; two grandsons, Grayson and Miles; and a brother, Dr. Charles T. Estill.
Private services will be held at a later date. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.
