Ronald E. Ekstrom Obituary

Ronald E. Ekstrom, age 91, of West Manchester Township, York, died at 5:25 AM Friday, October 18, 2024, at Wellspan York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Colleen M. (Lindsey) Ekstrom.

Born March 15, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late James and Lillian (Savage) Ekstrom, he was a graduate of Aviation High School in New York and served in the US Navy during the Korean and Viet Nam Wars.  He was an artist and mathematician, winning many awards for his still-life, portrait, landscape and animal paintings.  He retired from the US Naval Academy as an electronics technician, having designed the electronic system for the F14 Tomcat as well as the Lunar Module.

Mr. Ekstrom is survived by a daughter, Cathleen M. Campbell, of Annapolis, Maryland; three grandchildren, Crystal R. Judy, Conrad W. Judy, III, and Courtney E. Zacharski (Billy); eight great grandchildren, Colin, Caiden, Chloie, Carson, Carlie, Margot, Cecelia, and Jack; and a sister, Beverly Flieger, of Long Island, New York. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Ekstrom.

The viewing is scheduled for 1-3:00 PM Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 2150 Carlisle Road, York.  Burial will be in Calverton National Cemetery in Wading River, New York.
