Ronnell M. Sprenkle, age 90, of York Township, York, died on August 16, 2024, at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Gaye Lynn {Meckley} Sprenkle.
Born September 26, 1933, in York, the only son of the late Martin A. and Anna P. {Eisenhour} Sprenkle. He served as Student Body President of Edgar Fahs Smith Junior High School and played football during the initial season as Co-city Champions. At the age of 17 with his parents’ permission, Ron joined the U.S. Marine Corp and proudly served in the Caribbean, European Theater and in-country in Korea.
Upon discharge from the Marines, he returned to York where on his first date with Gaye Lynn, they decided to marry and spent 58 happy years together. Together, they moved to Atlanta, GA, where he used the GI Bill to support his plans for further education. He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1959.
They returned to York after he graduated, and Ron worked initially as a Civil Engineer at the PA Department of Highways for five years and ultimately was a Vice President/General Manager for two manufacturing/construction companies covering seven (7) states.

In recent years, he could be found exploring old and interesting bars in the mid-Atlantic region with his son, or sitting on the beach in Ocean City, MD with his daughter.
He was a loved and respected husband, father and friend. Mr. Sprenkle is survived by two adored and much loved children who adjusted their lives to make his happier: a daughter, Betsy A. Sprenkle of New York City; and a son, Daniel M. Sprenkle, who returned from Oregon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
