Ruth E. "Rooster" Orendorff, age 87, of East Manchester Township, Manchester, died at 11:04 PM Friday, May 10, 2024, at her residence. She was the wife of Raymond C. Orendorff and the late Henry E. Baker.
Born August 18, 1936, in Washington Township, a daughter of the late Harold and Jesse (Hoffman) Emig, she retired from Memorial Hospital in 1999 as an LPN. Ruth, or better known as Ruthie, Grandma, and GG, was known for her gardening skills, wit, charm, and no-nonsense personality. When the party was over, it was over! She was also known for her legendary Fasnacht’s, fudge, and zucchini relish.
In addition to her husband of 49 years, Mrs. Orendorff is survived by five children, Debra Kissinger, of Herndon, Kathy Horne, and her husband Robert, of Spring Grove, Robert Baker, and his wife Virginia, of York, Beth Kauffman, and her husband Brian, of Mount Wolf, and James Baker, of York; twelve grandchildren, Marc Shoenfelt (Jaime), Matt Shoenfelt, Ashley Martin (Micah), Lyndsey Ferster (Mike), Ryan White (Stacie), Heather McKee (Jesse), Cristin Lowery (Drew), Jamie Fishel (Neil), Robert Baker, Jenefer Linker, Mandy Baker, James Baker (Toni); twenty-seven great grandchildren, Hunter, Payton, Cody, Tucker, Tearsa, Elmerh, Theo, Tom, Easton, Morgan, Jackie, Addyson, Ethan, Ella, Liam, Isaac, Olivia, Ari, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Trent, Grace, Carson, Brylee, Kylene, Kaed, Leland; a great-great grandchild, Avi; two sisters, Patricia McCleary, of York, Dottie Stine, of York; two brothers, William Black, of Benson, Arizona, and Steven Buffington, of York. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Donovan, and Nancy Boecher; and two brothers, Kim Black, and Harold Emig.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, May 17, 2024, at William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 60 South Main Street, Manchester, with Chaplain Don Alspaugh, of Memorial White Rose Hospice, officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 AM. Burial will be in Manchester Union Cemetery.
