Sally May Smith, age 94, of Manchester Township, York, died at 8:07 AM Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at SpiriTrust Lutheran. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Edwin F. Smith Jr.
Born on November 10, 1931, in York, she was the daughter of the late William G. Burns and Lottie M. (March) Burns. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Patsy L. Cochran, her husband Robert, and by a daughter-in-law, The Rev. Vicki D. Smith.
She was a devoted member of Christ Lutheran Church where she served on the Altar Guild and numerous other committees. She also worked as a beautician in York for many years until retirement.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her eldest son, William E. Smith, and wife Jane, of Lake Worth Beach, Florida, grandchildren Jeremy (Crystal) of Tallahassee Florida, Derek (Whitney) of Lake Worth Beach, Gregory Roelke (Christy) of York, Jamison Roelke (Danielle) of Lancaster, her great grandchildren Tucker, Avery, Josie, Evelyn, Lauren, Jordyn and four great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her youngest son Matthew D. Smith, of Harrisburg, grandchild Dawn Packer (John), great grandchildren Elizabeth, Andrew, and Johnny, and one great-great grandchild, and her niece Cindy Stoltzfus (Todd) and family of Delaware.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, with her son, Pastor Matthew D. Smith, officiating. Viewing will be from 9:00-10:00 AM. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. Livestream of services will be available at http://www.facebook.com/KuhnerAssociates
