Sherry E. Updegraff, age 77, of Newberry Township, Etters, entered into the presence of God at 2:10 PM Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Thomas L. “Sonny” Updegraff, who passed away on February 3, 2025.

Born May 21, 1947, in York Haven, she was the daughter of the late Clarence D. and Edna C. (Wilson) Dolan.  She worked briefly for the state government as a clerk steno II, then as a school bus driver for West Shore School District for 25 years before retiring in 2003, and as the bookkeeper since 1974 for her husband’s businesses, Tom’s Paint and Body Shop and T&S Corvette Sales. She was a member of Paddletown Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church in Newberrytown since 1976 where she served as a chairperson on Pastor Parish Committee and was a song writer of country music holding memberships in the Tennessee Songwriters Association International, Nashville Songwriters Association International, Country Music Association, The American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers, and the Songwriters Guild of America.  Sherry loved sunflowers, music and writing songs, dancing, and going to Nashville, Arizona, Myrtle Beach, Hawaii, Disney World, The Bahamas, and to the Price is Right in California with her family.  She enjoyed being with her Circle of Friends, communicating with her Northeastern High School Class of 1965 classmates, and her many Breakfast Groups.  Sherry was quite adventurous and rode in a hot air balloon, drove her husband’s race car a few times, and did skydiving once.

Mrs. Updegraff is survived by a son, Todd E. Updegraff (Tonya), of Etters; a daughter, Lynne M. Updegraff (Clint Harro), of Dover; three grandchildren, Samantha, Becca, and Dylan Updegraff; a brother, Dennis L. Dolan (Cathy), of Manchester; and two additional sisters-in-law, Deanna Dolan, of Red Lion, and Joyce Dolan, of York Haven.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Paddletown Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church, 355 Church Road, Etters, with Pastor Ryan Whisel officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM. Private burial will be in Paddletown Cemetery.
