Simone Josette "Josie" Ambrose

Simone Josette “Josie” Ambrose, age 85, of Spring Garden Township, York, died at 1:50 PM Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Rest Haven-York. She was the wife of the late Melvin L. “Skip” Ambrose.

Born December 20, 1937, in York, one of nine children of the late Frank E. and Lillie B. (Johnson) Amig, she had worked as a waitress at Jackie B’s for 40 years where she made many friends through the years.  She was a great Mom, and cook, and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Mrs. Ambrose is survived by five children, Vickie L. Schauren, and her husband Michael, of York, Vonnie L. Ebaugh, of York, Rachel J. Laughman, of Dover, Timothy S. Ambrose, and his wife Kimberly, of York, and Todd W. Ambrose, and his wife Lois, of York; ten grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Wednesday October 25, 2023, at Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes and Cremation, 849 East Market Street, York, with Deacon Thomas Ballinger officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 AM. Private burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
