Susan M. Lingenfelter, age 78, of York Township, York, died at 1:20 PM Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at her residence. She was the wife of Ray A. Lingenfelter.

Born September 3, 1947, in Altoona, a daughter of the late Alfred Shamas and the late Violet Rose Banko.  Her sister Judith Hogan also preceded Susan in death.  Susan graduated from Bishop Guilfoyle Academy in Altoona. After moving to York, she worked as a dental assistant and receptionist in dental and medical offices. She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Dallastown and previously served as a volunteered at the Pappus House. She was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time in her kitchen, loved to exercise and gather with her gourmet-cooking club and card club ladies, whom she called family, However, her most cherished role was being Grammy.

In addition to her husband of 52 years, Mrs. Lingenfelter is survived by a son, Justin R. Lingenfelter (Diane), of San Diego, California; a daughter, Emily M. Wilborn (Jeff), of Washington DC; two grandchildren, Rae Marie Wilborn and Indi Rose Wilborn; her brother –in-law, David Hogan; niece and nephews, Alfie, Chris, and Davey; and a cousin, who was more like a sister, Linda Fresh.
