Suzanne B. Moyer Obituary

Suzanne Moyer, beloved wife, mother, sister, mentor, and community leader, passed away after a life devoted to service, compassion, and friendship. She was born on June 13, 1948, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Suzanne was known for her warmth, intellect and deep empathy for others. She had a rare ability to listen closely, notice people’s strengths, and help them see what was possible. She was the first person in her family to earn a college degree, graduating with honors from the University of Pennsylvania, and later pursuing graduate studies at the University of North Carolina while working as a rehabilitation counselor.

Throughout her career, Suzanne advanced social opportunity and inclusion. She served as Executive Director of The ARC of York County, Director of Volunteer Services at York Hospital, and later founded Resource Optimization Services, consulting with nonprofit organizations across York County and beyond. She concluded her career as Executive Director of the York High School Dollars for Scholars Program, supporting first-generation college-bound students in achieving their dreams.

Suzanne’s life was grounded in deep faith and service through the Lutheran Church, including leadership at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and service on the board of the Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary, now United Lutheran Seminary.

Above all, Suzanne’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife to Joe Moyer and a loving mother to her daughters, Chelsea and Whitney, whom she raised in York, PA with an abiding appreciation for beauty, music, generosity, and kindness and who now reside in Germantown, MD and Malden, MA respectively. She is also survived by her loving sister, Linda Alley of Dover, PA.

Suzanne will be remembered for her warmth, her ability to make people feel seen, and her unwavering belief in the potential of others. Her legacy lives on in all those she encouraged, supported, and loved.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, February 13, 2026, at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, 25 W Springettsbury Ave, York, with her Pastor, The Rev.
