The Rev. Judith Ann (Kennedy) McKee, age 76, of York, died at 5:30 AM Monday, November 18, 2024, at her residence. She was the wife of The Rev. Thomas E. McKee for 54 years.

Born August 10, 1948, in DuBois, PA, to The Rev. John Paul Kennedy and Elsie Jean (Bullers) Kennedy, she was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School, Thiel College, and the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg.  She was ordained June 29, 1974.

She served as co-pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, York from 1974-2001, as Assistant to the Bishop, Lower Susquehanna Synod from 2001-2008, as pastor then pastor for congregational care for Union Lutheran Church, York from 2008-2019.  She served as chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg and of Central Pennsylvania Synod’s Committee on Profession Preparation. She also served on the Board of Directors of Tressler Lutheran Services, SpiriTrust Lutheran, and Affordable Housing Advocates.

Her greatest joys in ministry were preaching and presiding at worship, working with candidates for the ministry, and accompanying sisters and brothers in the Konde Diocese, of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania. She was also a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, York.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Michael P. McKee and his wife, Kristin (Simmons); her daughter, Sarah R.M. Toney; her grandchildren, Kennedy and Micah; her sister-in-law, Lee Kennedy; her nieces, Tarah Kennedy (David Marchese) and Holly McArdle (Matthew); four great nephews; two aunts, Lucienne Brocious and Virginia Bullers, and twenty three cousins and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Howard P. Kennedy; her nephew, Miles Gehrman; and her great nephew, Damon Kennedy.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, 25 West Springettsbury Avenue, York, with The Rev. Stanley Reep officiating. Viewing will be from 1:00-3:00 PM.  Please enter by the Springettsbury Avenue entrance.   A viewing will also be held at 1:00 PM Sunday at Ringgold United Methodist Church, 4027 PA-536, Ringgold, Pennsylvania, with prayers at 1:30.  Burial will be at 2:00 PM in Saint James Lutheran Cemetery, Ringgold.
