Thelma Lando, age 104, of Boynton Beach, Florida, died Thursday, May 30, 2024, at her residence.

She was the wife of 49 years of the late Sherwin Lando. Thelma is survived by her son, Mark Lando, and his wife Vivian, of York; and her daughter, Barbara Small, of Boynton Beach, Florida; her grandchildren, Juddson A. Lando, and his fiancé Amanda Greenplate, of York, Curtis M. Lando, of Delray Beach, Florida, Seth A. Lando, and his partner Audrey Kudler, of Washington D.C., and Adam G. Small, and his wife Tricia, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Thelma was preceded in death by her grandson, Joshua D. Small.

She is also survived by nine great grandchildren, Cooper, Parker, Peyton, Kael, Tate, Ava, Olivia, Sophia, and Jacob.

Thelma, a businesswoman since her relocation to York from Hudson, New York in 1959 was Co-founder and President of Bookland Inc., the innovative bookstore chain that had multiple locations in Pennsylvania and New York State.

Her passions were her family, golf, reading and bridge. Thelma and Sherwin retired to Boynton Beach, Florida where they belonged to Indian Spring Country Club. While in York they were members of Outdoor Country Club and Blue Ridge Country Club in Harrisburg. Thelma was always very proud of the hole-in-one she had on her 80th birthday. She was a member of Temple Beth Israel and their Sisterhood.

While in Florida, as matriarch of the family, rarely a month went by without a visit from her adoring clan.
