Thomas P. McElwee, Jr., age 79, of Windsor Township, York, died Monday January 17, 2022 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Ann Marie (Castorani/Mattern) McElwee.
Born March 1, 1942 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Thomas and Henrietta (Knauff) McElwee. He proudly served in the US Army overseas from 1966-1974, and was honorably discharged as a Captain. Thereafter, he was employed by the State of Pennsylvania where he worked as a Registered Nurse II in Administration. He retired from the State Hospital System in 2002.
In addition to his wife of 25 years, Mr. McElwee is survived by his son, Thomas P. McElwee, III., of Roaring Spring, PA, two daughters, Henrietta McElwee, of Greenville, South Carolina, and Samantha Rudd, and her husband Karl of Figtree, Australia; two stepdaughters, Rachel Mattern, and partner Val Gaugler, of York, and Robin Vanik, and husband John, of Seven Valleys; five grandchildren, Abby, Rose, Nathaniel, Olivia, and Keira; two great-granddaughters, Amelia and Wren; a brother, Mark McElwee, and his wife Mary Jane, of Lancaster; and two sisters, Jeanette Jensen, of Seminole, Florida, and Mary Lou Lammers, of East Petersburg. He was additionally survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at a later date to be arranged by the family. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.
