W. Peter Knepp, age 80, of Manchester Township, York, died at 8:02 AM Sunday, April 20, 2025, at his residence. He was the husband of Christine (Fisher) Knepp.

Born February 4, 1945, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Howard P. Knepp, Sr. and the late Ruth A. (Buchanan) Knepp Best.  He was a graduate of State College High School and The Pennsylvania State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. During his college years, he was a member of The Penn State University Marching Blue Band. He served in the US Army in the Vietnam War, and was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He retired as Vice President of Yorktowne Optical Company, Inc., and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Nittany Lion Club, and a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association. He had also been a member of the YMCA of York, an avid golfer, and a long-time member of the Out Door Country Club.

In addition to his wife of 43 years, Mr. Knepp is survived by three daughters, Alexis M. Bierman, of Baltimore, Channing K. Smith, and her husband Kyle, of York, and Susan K. Champ, and her husband Michael, of Marietta; and three grandchildren, Eden Smith, Violet Smith, and Owen Champ. He was also preceded in death by a brother, H. Preston Knepp, Jr.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 PM. Burial will be in Warrington Friends Cemetery in Wellsville with military rites presented by The York County Veterans Honor Guard.
